In the big scheme of things, the answer is no. He uses Sieverts as the scale, but I'm am use to REM. In reality, the average person is exposed to this radiation every day. There is even a Unit of Measure called Banana Equivalent Dose.
The federal limit is no more than 3 REM/quarter
not to exceed 5 REM/ year for occupational workers. At this rate, it is expected that the cancer
rate might increase by 0.01%. As a non-occupational worker, I'm allowed 100
mREM/year per NAVSEA.
And the .gov has a lot of experience with
radiation exposure, as they have been studying the survivors of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki.
And because a lot of people don't know the
difference between Radiation
and Contamination,
a simple analogy:
Contamination is the dog crap in the yard,
radiation is the smell.
Bottom Line:
We are exposed to some radiation every
day, and we are not harm/affected by it in any way.
