Good Morning!!!

One of the First Major Projects I was involved With.  The picture was taken on a Wednesday, we landed on Thursday and were told to present a repair option, from a destroyer bow to restoration for full URO (Unrestricted Operations).  I knew where a steel 668 class sonar dome was located and told our group.  With this information and a plan, NAVSEA told us to be done in 45 days.

And we were.

We had the USS San Francisco ready to undock in 45 days and when we told NAVSEA we were ready to undock the boat, they were stunned and said “Wait A Minute”!!!

The reviewed all of our designs, paper work for deranged systems, modified procedures and took another 45 days try to figure out what we did.

They requested 0 changes to anything we did, and the boat undocked, fully water tight and sea worthy (couldn’t submerge was part of our design).

45 Days from being smashed up to being fully sea worthy (not submerged).  This is what we, the men and women, do at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.  Tell us what you want done and get out of our way!
