Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi

So, a couple of days ago, I posted that I ordered a Raspberry Pi from Amazon.com. Looking at the Quick Start Guide and User Guide (right click on the last two links and save as where you can find them), I elected to go with the CanaKit Raspberry Pi 2 Complete Starter Kit with WiFi. It has everything that is mentioned in the User Guide to get up and running if you have a spare monitor with HDMI input and a USB keyboard/mouse a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo is awesome for this). The entire kit contains:

  • New Raspberry Pi 2 (RPi2) Model B Quad-Core 900 MHz 1 GB RAM
  • 8 GB Micro SD Card (Class 10) - Raspberry Pi Recommended Micro SD Card pre-loaded with NOOBS
  • CanaKit WiFi Adapter 150 Mbps - Supports Access Point Mode (AP) to allow for WiFi Hotspot hosting
  • CanaKit 2.5A USB Power Supply with Micro USB Cable and Noise Filter - Specially designed for the Raspberry Pi 2 (UL Listed)
  • High Quality Raspberry Pi 2 Case

  • Premium Quality HDMI Cable

  • Heat Sink

  • GPIO Quick Reference Card

  • CanaKit Full Color Quick-Start Guide

  • Libre Office (sort of like MicroSoft Office)

I also purchased a wireless keyboard/mouse combo, monitor (with HDMI input and speakers) and a powered USB Hub because I intend to use an USB External Hard Drive for storage (the Pi comes with a 8 GB SD Card that's preloaded with the software).

Assembly only requires half a brain cell, but it does help to watch the video for installing the PI into its case and heat sinks (watch the videos). Fallow the User Guide for inserting the SD card. The only thing left to do, is hook to the monitor, keyboard and mouse, connect to a router (I'm going wired vice wireless) and plug in the power supply.

Results:

Not bad. This post is from the Pi. Still takes a little getting use to
