I was "Up North" when this happened.  The boat I was on boat that received three messages in the following order:
1.  Do not snorkel or ventilate until further notice.  We were asking WTF?
2.  Radiation Cloud moving to the north, do not snorkel or ventilate  We were seriously asking ourselves WTF.  Did someone nuke someone else???
3.  A third message came in stating that a reactor blew up.  Our attitude was "typical Soviets", but now the first two messages made sense...
